Legitimate ways people get ETH without buying it

Getting paid in it. Freelancers, remote workers and merchants increasingly invoice in crypto. Your Ethereum wallet address is what you give a client or customer to receive ETH.
Airdrops from projects you already use. Protocols occasionally distribute tokens to existing users. Real airdrops never ask you to send funds first or to enter a seed phrase.
Exchange and card rewards. Some platforms pay sign-up bonuses or cashback in crypto. Read the terms — most require a verified account and a first purchase.
Staking or holding rewards. Where a network pays holders for securing it, rewards arrive as more of the coin. They are earned on coins you already hold, not given to new wallets.

How "free ETH" scams work

"Send 1, get 2 back." A giveaway that asks you to send ETH first is theft. Nothing comes back.
